ABOUT US

Our story goes back to 2017 where we were created as a response to the Anglophone crisis. Started as a small initiative, we have grown into a non-profit organisation with several departments and various projects throughout the southwest region of Cameroon.

OUR STORY

OUR STORY

Solidarity Service for Sanitation and Sensitization (SOSSES) is a youth led non-profit, non-governmental organization committed in promoting good healthcare, sanitation, and empowerment among underprivileged communities in Cameroon. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for individuals, particularly youths, women, and the girl child.

We started in 2017, and we became legalized in 2020. SOSSES was founded by a group made up of medical doctors, gender specialists, social workers, nurses, community relay agents and agronomists who were concerned with the anglophone crisis of the rural people, especially those in hard-to-reach areas and those rendered vulnerable. These include, but are not limited to minority groups such as widows, displaced women and their families, school drop-outs, orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) as well as HIV and AIDS infected and affected persons who are all main beneficiaries of SOSSES’s programs.

The organization was born in response to the victims of the anglophone crisis in the Southwest and Northwest regions of Cameroon, particularly to those communities which were left unattended.

The pioneer group of social workers, agricultural experts, doctors and nurses and other well-wishers decided to focus on serving the rural populations by providing them with voluntary services that are helpful to them and are sustainable.

In the course of carrying out our activities in helping the most affected communities, we realized the marginalization of women and children, high rate of sexual abuse on children, displacement of women and children and other severe challenges on the girl child, the organization broaden its focus and included the aspects of safety and protection. This saw the birth of our second department of the organization – CHILD PROTECTION department. In the course of carrying out activities in the Child Protection Department, we realized that our sensitization and services provided required a third leg for the economic empowerment of the most marginalized groups especially women and girls. Thus, the Financial Freedom Department was born to take care of the economic empowerment of women and underprivileged groups. Today we have these three departments that work separately but interconnected with each other and have one goal which is to advocate, serve and support the underprivileged communities in Cameroon where we currently have projects in Ekondo Titi, Buea and Kumba
