Health Department

Delivering primary healthcare, raising awareness, promoting Water, Hygiene, and Sanitation (WASH), and enhancing health stakeholders’ capacity. Key areas of focus include HIV, Sexual Reproductive Health, Malaria, Diarrhea, tuberculosis, respiratory infections, and COVID-19.
Protecting Healthcare
As the founding department of the organization, the health department is dedicated to promoting positive health-seeking behaviors within communities to enhance overall quality of life. Additionally, it aims to enhance access to vital resources such as medical care, nutrition, and psychosocial support for women, children, vulnerable individuals, and remote communities.
Encouraging proactive approach to health and well-being.
We promote individuals to embrace positive lifestyles and engage in activities that contribute to their well-being, as well as that of their families and communities. This encompasses, among other things, dietary habits, attitudes toward healthcare, and perspectives on medical treatments.
Community support
Healthcare facilities in remote, vulnerable, and conflict-affected communities often lack adequate equipment, suffer from disrepair, are understaffed, or have been destroyed. As a result, these communities are denied access to essential primary healthcare services. Our community support efforts, which include mobile clinics and on-site consultations, aim to address this gap and contribute to reducing mortality rates. Our health support initiatives encompass consultations, laboratory testing, medication dispensing, counseling, and referrals.
Combatting diseases (Malaria, Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS
Here are some of the prevalent diseases in Africa and Cameroon. We combat the spread of malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS through awareness campaigns, distribution of treated mosquito nets, provision of free consultations and medication, administration of antiretroviral therapy, and ongoing support for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Additionally, we engage communities in disease prevention efforts.
Sexual Reproductive Health and Right
Empowering communities through education about the various types, functions, and significance of contraceptives, peer-led initiatives to raise awareness about STIs and STDs, practical demonstrations on the proper use of male and female condoms, comprehensive understanding of male and female anatomy, distribution of condoms, and dignity kits. Additionally, offering accurate information on diverse family planning methods.
Aiding mother and child health
Our primary focus is to ensure the well-being of mothers and infants. A significant portion of infant and maternal mortality is attributable to preventable causes. To address this, SOSSES is committed to supporting infant health by promoting exclusive breastfeeding, providing antenatal and postnatal care, administering child vaccinations, diagnosing and treating severe acute malnutrition in children, and offering complimentary malaria treatment for children. Additionally, we promote maternal health through the distribution of maternal kits, provision of midwifery services, offering health vouchers, and facilitating access to skilled delivery personnel.
Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH)
Numerous health challenges stem from contaminated water, inadequate hygiene, and substandard sanitation practices. It is our obligation to guide communities on adopting sound hygiene and sanitation practices. Our contributions include the construction of portable water systems, upkeep of water sources, provision of water catchment solutions, distribution of water purification tablets, plastic containers, detergents, and buckets. Additionally, we create educational posters on proper sanitation practices.
Research on Health
Research serves as the most dependable method for gathering data on primary healthcare systems and the impact of various stakeholders on healthcare. The insights obtained from research enable us to pinpoint issues, uncover gaps, and develop sustainable solutions to address health-related challenges.
